Due to a lot of recent requests as well as our Blade core video on the HuntPrimitive YouTube channel, we are now offering smaller tabs and nodules of premium Georgetown chert. This rock is very fine quality and needs to heat treatment to work so it is an ideal material to work straight from the raw tab or nodule form. Some folks prefer the flatter, thinner tabs for bifacing, while the thicker nodules are best for spalling and blade core work. At checkout you can feel free to mention if you would prefer tabs or chunkier nodules for your order. The rocks you receive will be similar to those shown below. Typically they are 4-8 inches in length. The photo shown below is approximately 15 lbs. Do keep in mind that we grade out and typically choose the best rock possible but when rock is in larger form we can’t always see if there are any internal fractures or crystal pockets. That is the risk that typically comes with whole rock, however Georgetown is known for is exceptional consistency so it is pretty rare to have a fractured piece. We tap each one as well to make sure they don’t sound fractured before shipping.
