Description

The HuntPrimitive Bow is the most down to earth yet serious contextual primitive hunting bow you are ever going to get.

This is the closest thing to a stone-age built bow without having to pay for multiple-thousands of dollars of stone-tool labor. They are made from a single stave of seasoned Osage Orange, worked with hand tools, and finished out with a flake-scrape & antler burnished texture. The tips are painted in genuine red ochre primitive paint suspended in hide glue. The whole bow is sealed with a primitive mixture of bear grease, beeswax, and pine pitch. The handle has no shelf and is wrapped in genuine braintan deer hide, and the string is a genuine deer sinew bow string. When it comes to a truly primitive bow, The HuntPrimitive Bow is it.  These are based off of the Cherokee inspired model but with a little more narrow tips, and the full stone age fit an finish with the sinew string, paint and handle wrap. For true hunting applications with stone projectiles, we recommend draw weights between 55-65 pounds to extract the best hunting performance from this style of bow.

It will not hurt the bow to get wet, but just like in early times, damage to the string and primitive paint can occur if subjected to excessively wet conditions and not cared for afterwards. I do not recommend intentionally hunt in the rain or leave lay on the wet ground but if it should begin to rain, leave your bow strung to keep the sealed sinew string tight and water resistant, move it to a dry place and dry it off with towels and allow to dry overnight. The primitive water-resistant finish will protect the paint in most cases. So again it will not hurt the bow to get wet, just don’t leave it in soaked conditions. (We have tested this is extreme downpour conditions and feel very confident in the durability of our products)  The sinew string and paint are considered wearable items and are not covered in the warranty. The paint is pretty tough but expect a little destressing over time on the edges which will only add to the primitive look of the bow. Sinew strings last a very long time but like any string, they are subject to wear over time and may be replaced. Bow lengths vary on the draw length selected. Longer draws require longer bows. The average lengths for a bow with a 28 inch draw is around 66″ long.

(Note: Bows with genuine sinew strings require our larger cut, selfnocked arrows. They will not work with modern plastic nocks.)
