Description
Customers frequently ask to purchase our Tonkin Cane shafts, so we’ve made them available to those who want to build their own arrows from a professionally straightened and spine matched set of Tonkin Cane shafts. These finished shafts are hand selected, straightened, nodes ground, and hand spined (from the skinny end with the first node branch facing out) to ensure the best cane shafts available. These are not the Chinese-manufactured shafts that are crooked and inaccurately spined. These are processed from raw shafts right here in the HuntPrimitive shop.
If you’ve ever shot premium cane/bamboo arrowshafts, then you know that they are by far the best and most consistent natural shafting material on Earth. These are the same shafts Ryan uses on his various HuntPrimitive channel hunts. These are each spined from the skinny end (nock end) with the first node branch facing out to ensure consistency. This is how we spine all of our cane shafts and finished arrows. If you would like to see a video on building cane arrows, you can find that video linked at the bottom of this page.
We always want to be completely transparent regarding our arrow shafts. While these are all hand worked by Ryan, remember that these are a natural material and can often have slight node blemishes, they are not all the exact same diameter, and after shipping, they may require some very slight final straightening. Still, we are confident that these are the best shafts available on the market. Many customers are unaware of the tremendous time it takes to source, sort, straighten, grind nodes, and hand spine each shaft. Not only is it very time consuming and tedious, the job also requires a very skilled eye and hand. (If you would like to try your hand at it, we also have Raw shafts available!) We make no bones about it that the shafts appear expensive compared to other commercially manufactured shafts. Yet, the HuntPrimitive shop actually takes a pay cut on shaft days because we want to be able to be a source of high quality shafts for customers looking for the best primitive arrow shafts.
